Coming soon to SF: Bruce White’s “ICONS”

Spoke Art is ecstatic to be announcing our next exhibition in San Francisco, artist Bruce White‘s ICONS. Equipped with a fresh crop of velvet canvases, Bruce has created a collection of iconic portraits featuring champions of humanity and inclusivity.

From pop culture giants to politicians fighting for positive change, this exhibition is a true celebration of the differences that can be made when diversity is championed. Bruce had this to say about the inspiration behind this series, “The earliest known black velvet paintings were brought back by Marco Polo from Kashmir. Because the fabric was so expensive, it was reserved only for portraits of royalty and religious icons, subjects of reverence and worship.  I want to elevate and equate these heroes and allies of the LGBTQ movement to the level of royalty and sainthood, celebrating the diversity that shapes our popular culture. “

Scroll down for a few sneak peeks of these gorgeous portraits and follow along with us @spoke_art for more info leading up the event. Emails us at [email protected] to be added to the advance preview list.

Join us at our San Francisco location June 4th from 4pm – 7pm for the opening event. The exhibition will run through June 25th. We are continuing to ask visitors to show vaccination status and wear face coverings while inside the gallery in order to keep our colleagues safe.
