ROI Winsor & Newton Oil Residency: Vince Hart

[ad_1]

by Cass Art

Vince Hart won the first Winsor & Newton UK Oil Residency in partnership with Royal Institute of Oil Painters and Cass Art in 2020. Placing heavy emphasis on paint as a substance in his practice, the colour and forms of his work can be seen to denote elements of landscape and atmospheric conditions throughout different times of the day and there is great attention to material within his paintings.

Working largely in oils, Vince employs many different mediums to achieve desired colours and effects, like showing every brushstroke in detail. To encourage young and emerging artists in oil, residency applications were open to artists that had graduated within the last five years in the UK and the residency itself included sole use of a large studio, materials, and mentoring. Impacted by pandemic lockdowns, but not deterred, Vince spent five weeks exploring his practice last year at the Winsor & Newton studio in London.

About Vince

Vince works in a variety of media, including collage, painting and print. Through the use of colour, material and considered titling, his work references music, film, art-history as well as his personal experiences. Below are some shots of his residency including his latest working featuring the latest addition to the W&N Artist Oil Colour Smalt.

As mentioned new from Winsor & Newton and exclusively available at Cass Art for a limited time only is Smalt. A violet-blue professional oil colour with delicate beauty & transparency.
