Selena Gomez Teases First Spanish EP
Selena Gomez recently released “De Una Vez,” a single sung entirely in Spanish, and now the musician/actor/entrepreneur is further connecting to her roots and releasing her very first Spanish-language EP.
Selena dropped the news of her forthcoming project on Instagram, writing, “Revelación, my first ever Spanish EP, is out March 12. Preorder it tomorrow at 9 AM PT.” (She also wrote the caption in Spanish.) In the pic Selena posted, she wears a dramatic red gown and poses in front of a red background, her hair tied back in a long braid decorated with red ribbons.
Revelación is a project that’s nearly a decade in the making, and Selena has been very thoughtful about how to approach her first Spanish album. “This has been something I’ve wanted to do for 10 years, working on a Spanish project, because I’m so, so proud of my heritage, and just genuinely felt like I wanted this to happen,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in an interview. “And it happened, and I feel like it’s the perfect timing. Just with all the division in the world, there’s something about Latin music that globally just makes people feel things, you know?”
“It is something that needed to be precise, and needed to be respected by the audience I’m going to release this for,” she continued. “Of course, I want everyone to enjoy the music, but I am targeting my fan base. I’m targeting my heritage, and I couldn’t be more excited.”
We’re just as excited to hear what Revelación has in store, and we won’t have to wait too long to find out. Selena will drop another Spanish single, “Baila Conmigo,” on Friday, January 29, shortly before the EP hits streaming services — and our headphones! — on March 12.
